Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive Diapers, Size 2, 152-Count

These are the diapers that we were introduced to at the hospital. Although the regular Swaddlers are very good, these sensitive diapers have the moisture indicator. It is a yellow stripe that turns blue if there is any moisture in the diaper and we find it to be invaluable. Some may find it gimmicky, but when we first brought our baby home from the hospital, we didn’t know about the sensitive vs. regular Swaddlers and had a pack of regular Swaddlers. We were also paranoid about ensuring he didn’t become dehydrated. You need to count and track both the wet and soiled diapers. Since disposable diapers are now so over engineered, a mildly wet diaper is not always perceptible. After a panicked call to the pediatrician, she suggested putting a cotton ball or tissue in the diaper to see if there was indeed some moisture. If we had been using the sensitive Swaddlers from the start, we would have had more peace of mind because the blue strip would have been readily apparent.

We tried other brands for newborns and found these to be the best. Huggies was the second best, and while they had better Velcro closures, the diapers were far bulkier (even when dry), had a plastic-y smell, and tended to smear the baby poop all over the butt. The Swaddlers are slimmer, have no discernible smell and the poop tends to stay put because of the mesh interior fabric, making clean up easier and any ensuing diaper rash smaller in surface area.

I highly recommend this product and think this is the finest disposable diaper. Although this is a premium product, the Amazon price is quite fair at around for 180 diapers, yielding a unit cost of approximately .23. At a Target in the metro-NY area where I live, it’s .99 for 74, a unit cost of about .26.

Note to new parents – only buy 180 diapers when your baby’s weight falls towards the lower end of the size range. We’re stuck with an opened but practically full bag of newborn size diapers and were surprised when out baby boy was born at 8.5 pounds – we were expecting a seven-pounder. It became pretty clear that the newborn size was a bit too small. We quickly discovered that it’s better to have a slightly larger diaper than one that is slightly too small.

First off, DO NOT buy these diapers! Please read on:

We started out with these for our newborn daughter 3 months ago. Originally they had the cute Sesame Street characters and we had NO problems for the first two months. They were leak free, soft and most importantly, never caused a rash UNTIL…one month ago when I reordered 2 large cases as I normally purchase in bulk. Upon opening the new box, I noticed the diapers appeared slimmer and had cleaner, pastel imagery on the front band, so far, so good. Unfortunately, that’s where the honeymoon ended. Within a week, we noticed a rash! We change her diaper religiously and for goodness sakes, her grandma is a pediatrician, so after careful review, the culprit seemed to be this new diaper.

After reading several other moms who had the same thing happen to their child within the past month, I realized this was no coincidence! We switched to Seventh Generation and after just two days, her rash cleared! We’re not sure what to do with this surplus of worthless diapers. I’m so glad to have discovered the cause of this mystery. I will say it again, DO NOT buy these diapers! Pampers needs to do some more testing and remove these from the market immediately.

***If you look through the most recent reviews when the new version came out around March 2010, you’ll notice the extreme dip in positive reviews.

Luvs Premium Stretch Diapers, Size 4 (22-37 Lbs), 180 Diapers

These diapers are great, they are of the same quality as Pampers, only about -7 cheaper for the same amount. They have the stretchy sides that are exactly the same type as Pampers Swaddlers and Cruisers. They have a babypowder scent to them, which is a little stronger than the Swaddlers, but not to where it bothers anyone. So far I’ve tried Target, Wal-Mart brands, Huggies, Pampers and Luvs. From my experience they ALL leak, no matter what they say. Especially when my breastfed baby has an explosive poop while not laying on his back — this makes the liquid come out from the back of the diaper. But these don’t leak as much as Huggies and generic brands. They are also not as rough as Huggies. Like I said, I would compare these to Pampers, I really think they stole their design ;)
I have tried pretty much every diaper under the sun, to include; Pamper’s baby dry, swaddlers & cruisers, Huggies snug n dry & supreme, Target brand, and white cloud. I have found that Luvs are my favorite. I really liked the cruisers, but for some reason they gave my son a rash. Luvs were the last type of diaper I tried and I’m so sorry it took me so long to give them a shot! They’re similar to Pamper’s cruisers onl without the mesh lining and high price tag! This is why I LUV ‘em:

1. They’re thin, yet very absorbant.

2. They’re really soft and have a powdery fresh scent.

3. The elastic keeps messes in, but doesn’t irritate baby’s legs.

4. The “bear hug stretch” is super stretchy-similar to Cruiser’s.

5. Most of all, I love that they cost about 20 cents a diaper compared to the 25 cents that Pamper’s cruiser’s cost per diaper.

Specs and features of Luvs Premium Stretch Diapers, Size 4 (22-37 Lbs), 180 Diapers includes :

  • Box of 180 quilted disposable diapers
  • Bear Hug elastic sides for a secure fit and premium leak protection
  • Contoured shape for a comfortable fit without excess bulk
  • Cottony soft and fresh smelling
  • Size 4 (22-37 pounds)

Kolcraft Contours Lite Stroller, Tangerine

It has all that I was looking for in a basic lightweight stroller.

Pros:

Lightweight

Has a snack tray (not all lightweight strollers have a tray)

Reclines pretty far back

Big storage basket underneath

Maneuvers well

5 point harness

It was a bargain at 80 bucks!

Cons:

The canopy could be a little bigger, but I just like really big canopies

The snack tray is a high, so it can get in the line of vision of a small child. But, it can be disconnected if needed.
This stroller is by far the best light stroller we have bought for our newborn. It is affortable, durable, and light enough for my petite wife to fold and unfold on her own. It is durable enough for my 45 pound daughter to sit in when she is tired. And it is the most affortable stroller out there. I recommend it to everyone.

Here are the Kolcraft Contours Lite Stroller, Tangerine features and specs:

  • 6″ front single swivel and 8″ rear wheels for low resistance strolling – single wheels for more contemporary, sleek look
  • Convenient free-stand 1-hand fold gives parents a free hand

Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers, Size 4, 140-Count Reviews

Hi all, today I want to post about Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers, Size 4, 140-Count. Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers Step 4 Giant Pack 140 read more and buy it via Amazon

Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers, Size 4, 140-Count

Ahh, the ultimate controversy. I feel like I’ve graduated from college to adult when the hot topic with my friends has changed from ‘boxers vs briefs’ to ‘huggies vs pampers’.

We did stage our own version of the Pepsi Challenge, and purchased Huggies, Papers, Luvs and even some other random brand I found in our local grocery store. Huggies wins hands down. Luvs leaked all the time, and was even kind of scratchy. Pampers was nice and soft, but also leaked. For us, Huggies has never leaked. The elastic bands around the legs fit well, the diapers are soft enough to not bother my son. We’ve used Huggies from size NB up to 3 so far and have still preferred Huggies in each size range.

Within the Huggies line, I prefer the Ultra-trim (which I guess is being called something else now?) over the Huggies Supreme. The Supreme were extra padded and tended to bunch up. They didn’t leak, but they just weren’t as comfortable for my son’s frenzied activity level.

As for fit, my son has always been small for his age (10th percentile in weight, 60th percentile in height), so I’m not sure if that makes any difference… maybe pampers works better for chunky kids? Which opens up another age old controversy “does size really matter”? But that’s a conversation for another day.
Huggies diapers are the best diapers for boys by design. I heard Palmpers use a slightly different design to fit girls. These are the two premium brands: Huggies for boys, Palmpers for girls.

Now about the price. Although the boxes look like in similar size, they are not. The size 3 Huggies sold by costco has 168 (the most recent ones have 174), compared to 144 sold by amazon.com and walmart, target, etc. A simple math showed that we should buy from Costco, this is after considering sales tax, shipping, etc.

Here are the Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers, Size 4, 140-Count features and specs:

  • Snug & Dry with unbeatable leakage protection!
  • LeakLock® quickly captures moisture and locks it away to help prevent leaks.
  • All-around stretch for a super-snug fit
  • Mickey & Friends Designs

The Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers, Size 4, 140-Count price is around $ 30.21, you can buy it through Amazon USA.

Jeep Liberty Limited 3 Wheel All Terrain Stroller

I have an infant and two older children, ages 8 and 3. We live in a small town with bumpy brick sidewalks. We are near the beach with a bumpy wooden boardwalk. I spend alot of time trekking across grassy, athletic fields, walking on local erands and schlepping books to and from the library.

I decided that I would skip the “lightweight” stroller I’d used in the past because they just didn’t perform well or hold up well for our lifestyle. This is my first “jogger” 3 wheel style. After 6 months, I do not regret my decision.

What I love about this stroller:

- fits our infant carseat perfectly and securely.

- steers effortlessly with one hand.

- swivels on a dime.

- rides smooth as silk over the bumpiest terrain, even the huge grassy athletic field, with little effort, my 8yr old can even push it easily.

- comfortable fit and ride for my 3yr old.

- cost – Sears 119.00 on sale with a coupon.

- large basket holds plenty of books, groceries, etc.

- looks sporty, gender neutral, for baby, as well as my husband.

- tall enough for me 5’10″ and my husband 6’3″.

- 3 deep cups for water, keys, etc. and for baby. (we have removed the steering wheel).

What I’ve learned to live with…

- heavy weight. I was used to a lightweight stroller. In comparison, this weighs a ton. The weight is not a problem for steering, just for loading into my vehicle.

- bulk. We have a Suburban so space is not an issue, but this would have consumed the trunk of my old Jetta.

- changing a tire. my husband had to do this when I got a flat.

- no hand brake. this stroller can “get away from you” and the foot brakes are a must to use on inclines.
This is truly a GREAT stroller for the price. Here’s what I like…

1. The storage is the best part. There’s ample storage under/behind the seat and a second compartment under the child’s feet. The Bob has nowhere near the same amount of storage.

2. The air inflatable tires are great, we walked on a dirt path soon after purchase, while my son was sleeping, and it was easy to push and smooth to ride in-didn’t even wake the baby!

3. I also really like all the cup holders. The more expensive brands don’t have the cup holders or snack trays like this one does.

4. Despite it’s size it is extremely easy to maneuver. It pushes very easily on all surfaces.

I would have given the stroller 5 stars except for a few minor issues…

1. I had to return the first one I purchased because the one hand fold system didn’t work. The second one worked just fine.

2. It is very big to fold, but if you have a van or SUV it shouldn’t be too much of a problem. Not the best choice for a small car. I think most strollers like this are big to fold, so it probably isn’t any bigger than other brands.

3. As other reviewers said, the straps don’t shorten very much when in the bottom slot. This can be worked around if you shorten the straps all the way, and then push the buckle through the shoulder hole so that the buckle (plastic square shaped ‘buckle’ that shortens the strap) is in the back of the seat. A little annoying, but it works.

4. The seat can’t be machine washed. The tag on the back of the seat specifically says do not machine wash. It can however, be spot washed with water and a cloth. I also don’t see how it can be removed since it looks like it’s attached to the sun shade. A fairly big complaint for me, but I would still buy again.

5. The snack try could be a little closer to the seat, but I think it’s designed like that to accommodate an infant car seat.

I’ve had 5 strollers over the past 6 years and besides the snap ‘n go this is my favorite. Even over a Maclaren (which I’ve owned 2 of). If your looking for a good long distance walking stroller with great storage, or for long outings like the zoo/Disneyland, that doesn’t cost you an arm and a leg-this is the one to get. If you need something for a smaller car or for just around Starbucks get a Maclaren. But don’t try taking a Maclaren to Disneyland, we learned that the hard way!

To be honest, after comparing to the Bob, even if I could afford to get it, I think I’d still buy this one just for the storage!

Here are the Jeep Liberty Limited 3 Wheel All Terrain Stroller features and specs:

  • iBaby sound system easily connects to your iPods and MP3 player for everyone’s listening pleasure
  • Parent tray includes deep cup holders
  • I Drive entertainment toy includes horn, car sounds and music and attaches to swivel child tray with cup and snack holders
  • Rugged 12” inflatable tires grip to on all types of terrain

Pampers Baby Dry Diapers, Size 3 (16-28 Lbs), Economy Plus Pack, 204 Diapers (Packaging May Vary)

I am a stay at home Mom with 4 children. I have been buying diapers for the past almost 11 years and Pampers Baby Dry is hands down the best diaper on the market, and believe me I have tried them all! All of my kids have been “super soakers” when it comes to pee. These diapers way out perform any other brand including major brands and department store brands. The major selling points for me are:

1. They are thin, easy to pack 5 in a diaper bag.

2. Easy to unfold with one hand (if you, like me frequently have to use the other hand to keep baby still)

3. tabs are easily opened without extra unfolding and don’t rip off like several other brands.

4. Doesn’t leave residue on baby or smell like pee when really soaked.

5. wider in the front to prevent baby from peeing out the side (and my kids are experts at this)

One thing that may be helpful is to remember that Pampers fit better on children that are long and skinny. If your baby is short and really chubby in the bottom, then Huggies will fit your baby better. This, I believe, explains the few complaints about Pampers not fitting or leaking.

Hope this review was helpful!
It must depend on your child because I tried the cruisers after always using baby dry on my son and they failed us several times. I went right back to baby dry and no more leaks. I have also tried other brands and I loved Huggies for my daughter but they don’t work for my son. Funny how each is different. I am a mother of 4 and Luvs worked for my other son. You just go with what works for your child. I also have noticed that they work differently for different ages as well. Good idea to try a few out before you buy the jumbo packs.
