I love the organic ingredients & portability. They love the taste. Every flavor we have tried so far has been a hit – grape, strawberry, sour apple (think granny smith – just tart enough but not really sour), mixed berry & tropical.

A winner all around for us in the snack catagory.

Price here on Amazon is very, very good compared to my grocery store where you can buy these individually for about a dollar each.

I think you can also find these at Starbucks for about the same dollar a piece if you want to try before buying.

I find them to be very similar to Stretch Island fruit strips in both flavor, texture & stickiness.

Not too sticky for eating out, but wet wipes always come in handy!

We used to be on the subscribe program for a monthly delivery for additional savings, but the 4 variety pack is no longer in stock & this one isn’t being offered on S&S. (Which is a darned shame!) You can get the single flavors on S&S but we really like the variety packs best.
I have been a big fan of these ever since I first tried them. They are a very good quick snack, and if you are a fan of fruit snacks then you won’t be disappointed. Some people feel that may be a little bit sweet, but I think they are fine.

I ended up picking these up at a local health food store. Then I purchased the other variety pack, which had Chocolate Brownie, Chocolate Chip and Crunchy Peanut Butter. I had low expectations of this set due to the Oatmeal Raisin/Blueberry Crisp mini bars. Neither sounded particularly appetizing.

Well, I type this morning a changed man. The two mini bars I suspected would be the worst flavors were the best, while my wife and I agree that the Chocolate Brownie borders on inedible.

We pack lunches every day as part of a budget/weight-loss plan (thus, the mini bars), and on days I include a Blueberry Crisp mini Clif Bar, I am generally in a good mood and looking forward to lunch.

Oh, and my 9 year old recommends them, too.
Our nutrition coach suggested the clif bar product..it has been in our pantry ever since. Tasty, even my teenage daughter prefers them over the “sugar” cereal bars. Amazon has great prices..sometimes I find them on sale at Target, and also sold at Sams club.

My guess is that many of you interested in trying a box of Clif Bars are confused and wary due to the intensely polarized nature of the reviews you’ve been reading on the internet. I’m going to try to offer a little more nuanced insight and hopefully can help you decide if you’d like them or not.

Let me start by saying that I think Clif Bars are pretty delicious. I will also admit, however, that I am not very good to my tastebuds. I stay far away from pretty much all high glycemic carbs (sugary food) and saturated fats (savory food). So my daily Clif Bar is pretty much the only sweet treat my tummy gets. Having said that, let’s determine in which camp you’re likely to find yourself. I’m going to go ahead and say that most of the people complaining to the effect that Clif Bars don’t taste so hot or have a gross composition would be more comfortable with a box of doughnuts. And I don’t think very highly of the oft-repeated criticism that Clif Bars look gross. Who really gives what the thing looks like? Bust out some cake icing and decorate it if you can’t get over the appearance; or close your eyes, or just go back to the recliner in front of the tv and spare us the agony of having to listen to you react to trying new things.

A common complaint that I will agree with is that Clif Bar flavors can be kind of same-y. That’s not to say that they don’t taste good, but if you’re planning on buying them in bulk and testing out a few different flavors, spread out your choices among the flavor spectrum. Contrary to what you think, you will not find yourself reveling in the subtle nuances among the chocolate flavors. Here’s a recommendation breakdown, assuming you’re picking no more than one flavor from each of the following groups:

-As far as chocolate flavors go, Chocolate Almond Fudge and Cool Mint Chocolate are the best choices.

Stay AWAY from Chocolate Brownie. It tastes (ok, ok, and looks) like a serving of coconut oil-soaked asphalt.

-For fruit flavors, I’d recommend Black Cherry Almond, but you won’t go wrong with Lemon Poppyseed or Cranberry Apple Cherry either.

-Most of the “specialized flavors” have enough effort put into them to stand out on their own even against each other. I’m basically referring to Carrot Cake and Pumpkin Pie. They are both ridiculously tasty. Go for it.

-If you’re feeling boring, and you don’t mind the fact that you can get a similar product from virtually any health food company, Peanut Butter is a pretty reliable standby. I get it just so that I have something to measure the more experimental flavors against. Same with Oatmeal Raisin Walnut…good for reminding you that the other flavors are spoiling you. There’s nothing wrong with Chocolate Chip either, but really, what’s the point of even getting a Clif Bar if you’re that conservative?

So, to wrap it up: If you’re a decadent eater, and can admit it to yourself, you’re better off just staying away from nutrition bars. The only ones that are going to cut it for you are going to be the ones that aren’t too nutritious at all. As far as actually somewhat healthy ones go though, Clif Bar tastes the best. If you appreciate healthy and unadorned food in it’s own right, Clif Bars will be your new favorite snack.
This rating is for Amazon sending me bars that were months past their expiration date. I have had this flavor (Spiced Pumpkin Pie) of Clif Bars before and I like it. However the bars I received from Amazon were dry, and the icing was yellow from age. The other flavor I ordered, Cranberry Apple Cherry, was fresh and as good as getting it from a grocery store. But I wish quality control at Amazon would make it so they do not send expired food to customers.

I like the high Protein content.

Pros : 210 gms Pottassium, 20 gms of Protein, 30 gms of Carb

Cons : High Sugar (20 gms), High Sat fat, (5gms) some high GI ingredients

I would recommend this if you are bulking (Building Muscles)to meet your calorie needs.

I would not recommend this bar, if you are cutting (reducing fat) due to high sugar content and high GI of Ingredients

A very good protein bar. The cookies and cream is very tasty, yet it is not too sweet. I find that the Builder’s Bar has one big advantage over the regular Clif Bar (other than the protein of course): the Builder’s Bar isn’t super sweet. I really enjoy the regular Clif Bar but sometimes it leaves me feeling like I just ate a really sweet candy bar. The Builder’s Bar doesn’t suffer from that. The downside to the Builder’s Bar, however, is that it does have a bit of saturated fat. In sum, not a bad bar and much tastier than many of the other protein bars I have tried.

Plain and simple, these Builder’s Bars are one of the best tasting protein bars you can get. They are crispy and chewy at the same time and they aren’t super sweet like a candy bar. And at 2.4 ounces a piece they are large enough and filling enough to be a meal replacement.

And the one thing that I really like is that when I read the ingredients, I actually know what the stuff is! Nothing weird or unnatural, just real ingredients!

Out of the four flavors available (Chocolate Mint, Peanut Butter, Chocolate, Cookies `n Cream) I prefer the Chocolate Mint and Peanut Butter, mainly because they taste even less like a protein bar. I’m not saying the plain Chocolate and Cookies ‘n Cream are bad tasting, just that I prefer the taste of the Chocolate Mint and Peanut Butter ones (they are all really tasty).

These are just awesome, 100% natural, high protein, real ingredients, and they taste great! I just love them!

Side note:

Do not buy these expired (like on eBay or in-store)! Since these bars do not contain any preservatives they can loose their freshness and vitamin potency quickly and can develop a simple bread mold. It is recommended that they be eaten within a month of their sell by date (they are guaranteed to be fresh one month passed the sell by date printed on the wrapper).

EDIT: I just bought myself a couple of boxes of the of the new Vanilla Almond flavor and oh my they are mighty tasty. Sometimes you just don’t want a chocolate protein bar and these fit the bill perfectly! And just like the other Builder Bars they are not super sweet, just a perfect balance. That and they contain more organic ingredients then the other Builder Bars (39%).

If chocolate is not your pleasure try the Vanilla Almond bars, you will not be disappointed!
I’m 26m, 6′ 185 and growing. Work out regularly, mostly weights and basketball. I’m allergic to peanuts, which makes most protein bars off-limits for me. This is the only bar I’ve found where the non-peanut flavors don’t contain trace amounts of peanuts to set off my allergies. Incredible, if for only that reason. But there’s more.

20g of protein. Wow. This can be a meal replacement if you’re on the road or it can be the mid-morning, early-evening or even late-night snack, especially if you’re trying to build lean muscle and shooting for 1.5 or more grams of protein per pound of body weight. It’s an easy 20.

The carbs are real, as another review says. It’s clean energy, to be effective either before or after a workout. I prefer to take in liquid protein after a workout, the body absorbs it faster, but in a pinch this would be a great choice. Beyond that it’s a little crispy and a little chewy, there’s a physical satisfaction from eating it that makes the experience complete. But, as another review said, this isn’t intended to be a diet bar, it is for men & women who work hard and use lots of energy throughout the day, hence the name “Builders Bar.” I guess if you ate half of one instead of a meal, it might work that way.

Finally the taste is outstanding, when stacked against other bars (although I haven’t tried many, due to peanut allergies). If you close your eyes and pretend, it really could be a dessert. I stick to the cookies & cream or chocolate. Chocolate is yummy dunked in hot coffee mid-morning.

I buy a box every two weeks and keep stocked at home, work and oftentimes one in the car just in case I get hungry. Another review said the outside chocolate got crumbly, this is true, if it gets hot and melted. When the things solidify they crumble. Doesn’t change the taste but it’s messy. Keep them cool and you’re in good shape. I’ve even tried putting them in the freezer prior to eating, not bad but no significant difference.

Clif Bars are high-density energy bars, designed to replace the fuel your body needs during demanding workouts. I use them during adventure racing, mountain climbing, and kayaking. They are excellent compared to all the other “power” type bars that are available. These are not “healthy snacks” for couch potatoes to smack on while watching TV. Do that and it’ll end up on your butt! Used for the intended purpose, and when purchased fresh, these deserve the 5-star rating I’ve given.

I buy the variety pack at my local [...], and the price is lower than Amazon’s gold box special price. The other advantage of purchasing food in a brick and mortar store is that you can verify the product expiration date. Several reviewers complained about this product being stale and/or out-dated. I’ve purchased other food products from Amazon and have also noted they are pushing close to the expiration date, meaning that one needs to consume a case of food within a week or two before it expires. Buyer beware.

I love Clif Bars (all flavors). I think they all taste good! I am however I little surprised at some of the prices on Amazon. It seems like most sellers list the bars at slightly over .00. I buy Clif Bars individually at Trader Joe’s in New York where they are sold for .99. It might not seem like a big difference but a savings of 5 or 10 cents per bar adds up over the year if you are eating 1 or more Clif Bars every day. I’d recommend buying them at Trader Joe’s and if you don’t have a Trader Joe’s in town then try to search some local stores.

In short, Clif Bars are excellent and I recommend them to endurance athletes or those looking for a healthy and tasty way to curb hunger while losing weight.
